Working with AirTreks
How To Get the Most From AirTreks
Decide on three important factors
In order to get the most from working with AirTreks begin thinking about the following important aspects for your journey:
- Duration of your journey
- The places you want to experience
- Your airfare budget & your overall travel budget (It’s good to have an idea)
Using TripPlanner and your Personal Travel Consultant
-
Begin by using our
TripPlanner
to acquire your Multi-Stop International airfare estimate(s).
- Then submit an itinerary through TripPlanner and explore the possibilities.
- A Personal Travel Consultant will contact you to customize your trip.
- Once you start working with your Personal Travel Consultant there is no need to submit another itinerary through TripPlanner if you decide to modify your original. You will have plenty of opportunities to customize your submitted itinerary through your Travel Consultant until you find the right one.
Pick your destinations, not your route
- When using TripPlanner pick where you want to travel to, not where you think you have to travel to get there.
- Let AirTreks help you find the route with the best value.
-
Put in your destinations and let TripPlanner estimate your routing while it offers an additional“More For Your Money”travel option with your original.
- Your AirTreks Personal Travel Consultant will find greater and more consistent value if your submitted TripPlanner route is comparable to where you actually want to travel.
Forget about these common airfare myths
- Round-trip airfares are always the least expensive…not always!
- You must travel in a continuous direction…not with AirTreks.
- You must begin and end your travels in the same place…not with AirTreks.
- You can always find better deals at the last minute… not at all true.
- You can book flights more than a year in advance…airline rules don’t allow it.
- Secondary cities are much more expensive…not with AirTreks.
- You are restricted to a set route, airline, or mileage limit…not with AirTreks.
- Business and first class only cost a fraction more than economy class…a general rule is it costs 3x more than economy.
- You can change the name on a ticket…usually, the airlines will not allow it.
- Flying is dangerous…riding in a car is much more dangerous.
The best overall travel value is not always the least expensive air ticket
- Your air tickets are only a part of your overall travel costs.
- Waiting 3 days in an expensive city for a reasonably priced airfare may not be your best overall travel value.
- Saving $100 on airfare by arriving to an airport 200 miles from your desired destination will cost you additional money to end up where you really want to be, not to mention the added stress and time to get there.
- Paying an extra fee for an airfare that allows additional flexibility can save you significant money, not to mention stress and possibly regret, while you travel.
Being flexible can save you money
- Having flexible travel dates will allow us more low fares to choose from.
- Being flexible about which airlines to fly will give us more fares to choose from.
- The more fares we have to choose from the greater the ability to give you the best possible value.
Booking early will get you a lower price, better value, faster service
- Good fares with low prices sell out quickly, so book early.
- Good fares with fewer restrictions sell out quickly, so book early.
- Just because a fare exists does not mean there is a vacant seat on the plane, so book early.
- Generally you will get the best value if you book your flights between 2 and 4 months prior to your departure date, so book early!
