Baggage: fees

If you are a traveler you will have baggage. And because the airlines now recognize the revenue generating power of checked baggage fees it’s now a way of life (in many markets) to pay to check your bags.

But if you’re not constantly reading airline news you may end up stunned—or incensed—when you get to the airport; the fees are changing on a regular basis. Fortunately there is only one website you need to know about to prepare yourself when packing for your trip: LuggageLimits.com.

From their website:

Detailed baggage allowance information available on all routes and ticket classes for over 100 airlines! All of the information you need to avoid expensive airline luggage fees.

To the question “can I rely on the site’s information?”  they have this to say:

We are dedicated to ensuring the accuracy of this site’s information. We check for updates on a daily basis and incorporate changes as soon as they become available.

Luggage Limits lists 90% of the world’s airlines so the airline you’re looking for is highly likely to be listed there.

It helps to know what all your flights charge or don’t charge for checked luggage, if only to avoid surprises. Be happy and check beforehand. Due to the changeable nature of baggage fees, a simple chart won’t give you as complete information as you can get, a specialized site will be your best shot.
