In general, the more flexible you are the better price you’ll get for your around-the-world or multi-stop tickets. If you have time and inclination to stopover somewhere you didn’t originally plan on seeing, you wind up with a much higher value trip for very little relative extra cost.
It’s a normal assumption that a higher price equals a better trip, and while paying more does give you more destinations, in most cases, you should bear in mind your trip’s overall value when disregarding a higher priced ticket purely because its higher priced. Ask yourself if spending a couple hundred extra dollars to experience an entirely new part of the world justifies the expense. Then take into account how much getting there on another trip would cost.
Keep the price vs. value question in mind when planning your route and open yourself up to a much higher valued trip for only little extra money. Bear in mind your budget and taking advantage of opportunities. You may end up with a trip that’s better than you originally expected it would be.
